On January 31, the Mediterranean Citizens´Assembly Foundation (MCAF) met in Valencia with representatives of the Islamic Cultural Center of Valencia (CCIV),for seeking common synergies in the field of citizenship and Intercultural dialogue in the Mediterranean.
The MCA Foundation President, Vicent Garces and the Director Andreu Iranzo, with the CCIV President, Mariam Barouni and the CCIV board members, Abdelaziz Bouhlasa and Alfons García.
Both institutions agreed on the need to promote, strengthen and work on a solid debate about the social and cultural situation in the Mediterranean countries, and agreed to develop a framework agreement to work on these lines of action and cultural activities.
The CCIV is the Islamic cultural institution of reference in the Valencian Community, with more than twenty years of experience in the interreligious and intercultural dialogue. It is an action field in which the Mediterranean Citizens´Assembly Foundation has been reaffirming its commitment for more than nine years through several international, national and local initiatives on citizenship, tolerance, education and diversity in the Mediterranean.
One of the most recent activity in which the MCAF participated was the high level meeting organized by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) in the Senate of Italy on December 15, entitled “Dialogue in the encounter between cultures and religions: The role of politics and education” in which the president of the MCA Foundation, Vicent Garces stressed the need for a common effort to educate and train young people in the culture of peace, tolerance and respect for diversity.
